Where is the time hiding?

First, it's been 10 days already?! WHAT?! Got to say, the last 10 days have ZOOMED BY!
But all in all, very productive and so was today! Happy dragonboat festival to everyone! I guess you all got a good dose of lovely sunshine and a lot of paddling (either with oars or with beers?)

I did my usual catching up today and I am quite happy with all the work I did.
However, I do have to confess, this need to zero inbox does drive me nuts at times because my work never feels complete until I don't know what to do lol...

Speaking of not knowing what to do, well in the last entry, I said I should stop tempting myself with toys and figures, well I managed to avoid a lot of cool stuff like this very cool Japnese-ish-joker from Play Arts

But I do have to confess, I caved when I realized they are coming out with the 2nd edition of the Killing Joke Statue.

So I caved and ordered it. Oh and also some guy was selling his whole series of Adventures of Spawn on eBay and well.. at like US$100 I had to get it. It's spawn after all.... but now I'm satisfied and definitely no more toys for a long while.. or at least until I figure out how I'm going to properly honor and display them :)

Well we're hitting the halfway point of 2017 and I got to say, it's been an awesome year so far. Basically the usual madness but always ends up with something good.. no matter how dark or painful or stressful it is, eventually I survive and come out stronger, so I have to say I'm very, very grateful for that.

On the other hand, the last 10 days, as productive as they are, reminded me of 2 years ago when I was so busy that i didn't know what was going on, I was just on auto-pilot mode and basically powering through each day. Heh, guess I'm getting better at dealing with this.

Speaking of dealing with stuff, I got booked for a gig that I thought would be the usual stand up comedy gig, but the organizer of the event has one of these crazy obsessions with making sure I hit on certain key "messages" of the night during my act. I kept trying to explain to her that my job is like a little break/recess for the night so my job was to make people laugh more than actually deliver anything in what I say, but no matter how I tried, she just wasn't buying it.

It reminded me of those clients that hire a designer and they keep banning ideas until the designer basically goes with the design (no matter how bad) this client had in his/her head..ahah oh I remember those brutal days.
Anyway, all in the life of a comedian, you're bound to meet these people, well I'll do my best and hopefully get the crowd laughing so even if she's mad at me for not sticking to any of her "key words", the people will still be entertained. Just sad to have to deal with this, when you know it's better they give you your space to do your thing.

Well here we go, last day of May and this is it. Going to be filming on a tram tomorrow, so that should be quite fun, otherwise, it's back to the grindstone and make magic happen as usual.

Enjoy the next 10 days guys and hopefully I won't come back with another new toy I've caved to getting.....lol #1stWorldProblems.

Sometimes, it's as simple as this

Well, we're hitting the end of May and time is zooming by as usual. However, it's been a very crazy yet very fruitful last few weeks. It's pretty much been extremely productive ever since I came back to HK from my trip to Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur for a string of shows.

It's always good to have that one day to just slow down (and play catch up generally). I treated myself to watch the Lego Batman movie,

and now I'm watching Part 2 of The Dark Knight Returns. Got to say, it's so cool watching all these different storylines of batman and joker. Heck, nothing beats my favorite The Killing Joke. Speaking of which, did I tell you I got me both the comic book cover as well as the classic HAAHHA scene posters? Ready for my wall some time soon!

Yummy!
Otherwise, I've been unnecessarily tempting myself by looking at different action figures, etc. online...ahh well, enough's enough!

On the other hand, I'm finally getting back into my fitness routine after pretty much missing out for a month and boy oh boy, 1 month of no training feels like I fell back 3 months! RAT#$@%!#Q4%~!
Ah well, lesson learned. It's been a while since I didn't train for so long and totally lost it with my diet (don't blame me, food in Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur is fantastic!)

Well, by the time I write my next entry, we'll be in June and at the halfway mark of the year. Yowzers! I hope things have been going very well for you all, and if it hasn't well you have a chance to turn it around! For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction right? :P

Toys galore

So i was recently reminded by fellow comedian Dr. Jason Leong that I'm 34 years old. Why? Because I was in Kuala Lumpur for the Crackhouse Carnival celebrating their 3rd anniversary and found myself hanging out with super duper funny comedian GB Labrador at AmCorp mall where they have stalls of toys for sale, from 2nd hand toys from collectors who needed the cash to guys who just wanted to clear off their mint condition toys for some money. And well, yours truly had a very, very hard time holding himself back and already got himself a bunch of jokers such as the PlayArts joker:
and a few other random ones from the Arkham Asylum/Suicide Squad series

not to mention my crazy, crazy shopping while in Melbourne of like a bunch of Greg Capullo Joker
and others. So yeah. I am pretty damn satisfied except I just saw this one last one:
The Arkham Origins limited edition figure where the TV screens light up. OMG!

Anyway, suffice it to say I got a tonne of toys to go crazy about :) Now if only I can find the space...

On the other hand, the run of shows in Melbourne was fantastic and we're definitely going to go back for a series of Cantonese shows there and hopefully connect to Sydney after that and Kuala Lumpur as well. Heck, why not right?

But now that I'm back in HK, a month of eating like nuts (literally a tub of ice cream each day) and I can feel my clothes tighten as well as my body weaken. Walking up the stairs to my place and I was like "OK, legs are not responding". So I'm determined to get back to the gym from today onwards and am giving myself 10 days to get back on track to normality and then kick some butt.

So if you're feeling sloppy, give yourself the next 10 days and make it awesome. We're reaching the half-way mark of the year! Don't let it slip by!
